When do community classes run under the Covid-19 protection framework?

Face-to-face, in person community class availability varies by region based on case numbers.

The safety of our participants is our number one priority and we thank everyone for your patience and understanding as we navigate the current situation. If you are unvaccinated or not comfortable attending a community class we warmly invite you to join one of our Online classes.

We know that connection is important and our community classes operate safely and in accordance with government mandates.

When will community classes return?

Our community classes will return when it is safe to do so on a region by region basis. We have stringent health and safety protocols in place to ensure your safety. We will provide regular updates and ask for your patience as we respond to changes in the way Aotearoa manages the virus.

Will I need to be fully vaccinated to attend a class?

All participants, facilitators and volunteers are required to be fully vaccinated to attend a class. We ask you to have your vaccine passport ready for our team to sight and scan on arrival. A RAT test will be provided and a negative test result is required before attending a community class.

We welcome anyone with cancer, regardless of their vaccination status to our Online classes.

We encourage you for the sake of our people, our communities and your whānau to book in for your free vaccine so that we can get back to doing the things we love.

Can I bring a support person?

Unfortunately, to ensure everyone’s safety we are unable to invite support people due to reduced class sizes.

Where can I donate my real hair to make into wigs?

Freedom Wigs in Dunedin purchases or makes a charity donation in return for high quality hair to make into wigs. To find out more please visit their website www.freedomwigs.com/hair-donation/about-contribution or phone 03 477 7575.

Can I donate my wig to Look Good Feel Better?

Unfortunately, we cannot accept wigs for hygiene reasons. Some local charities and hospices may be able to take them.

What help can I get to cover the cost of wigs or headwear?

The Ministry of Health provides a subsidy for adults with temporary hair loss. This could cover the cost of scarves, hats, turbans or a wig. The subsidy (in 2021) is $408.88 (GST incl) over a one-year period. If your wig or headwear costs more than this, you will need to pay the remainder.
