Volunteer days popular with staff

We are incredibly grateful for the support of businesses and their staff who help in a myriad of ways. We were recently honoured to be chosen by Kimberly-Clark as one of its three charities for a volunteer day. It was a poignant way for one of the staff Shayleen Taylor to give back after going through her own cancer journey.

Kimberly-Clark’s purpose is to provide “Better Care for a Better World”, through the products it makes, the workplaces it creates and the communities and environments it serves.

“One of the ways we bring this to life is through employee volunteering, where our people are given the opportunity to lend a hand and give back.” explains Shayleen, the company’s administration manager.

“LGFB is an organisation that is very dear to the hearts of many of our team who have lost friends and family members to cancer, and for myself, having had breast cancer twice.”

In March, more than 300 employees across Australia and New Zealand simultaneously volunteered their time to make a difference within their local community. Kimberly Clark chose Look Good Feel Better for its volunteering, for the third consecutive year.

“It’s a privilege to volunteer for an organisation that treats everyone with respect and brings much-needed support and hope to individuals during their cancer journey. The simple act of helping people with their skin, hair and nails, has a tremendous impact on their self-confidence and can really brighten their day.

“We typically have three different options to sign up to for Volunteer Day, and each time Look Good Feel Better is always the first to have a full complement within a very short space of time!

“We were eager to roll up our sleeves and get to work creating hair and nail kits, unboxing donated products ready for picking, stocktaking, as well and other general admin work.  In past years, we have helped assemble the annual Christmas crackers, ready to be filled by other volunteers.”

Shayleen paid tribute to Sheryll and others in our Look Good Feel Better team “who do such a fantastic job at creating meaningful and engaging volunteer opportunities for teams to take part in”

“Our team is always so incredibly eager to get involved and it’s also a great chance to build awareness of the important services and support Look Good Feel Better provides for individuals throughout their cancer journey.

“The K-C team are very much looking forward to returning to Look Good Feel Better later this year to help put together the Christmas Crackers for their annual fundraising appeal.”
